It’s marathon weekend (yayy!) and my nerves are running wild – I’m excited, nervous, scared, and happy. More than anything, I’m ready for May 1st to be here.
Completed:
I picked up my mom from the airport (she flew in from Florida for my marathon weekend!)
I know what I’m wearing on Sunday
I have the course mapped out, and have strategically placed my family and friends along the trail
I’ve purchased race “snacks”, delicious Honey Stingers and Cherry flavored Sport Jelly Beans
I’ve obsessed about the weather and am incredibly thankful that the weather looks promising for the weekend
To Do:
Decide what I am going to eat the night before the marathon and race morning
{Marathon} Runners and friends – I need your help!
What do you eat the night before a race? What do you eat race morning?
Please tell me your favorite (and most delicious) go-to meals – I’m hungry for a grub down!

Go with pizza!
and race morning I would say keep it light. I was so nervous I didn't want to throw up. I ate a banana and 1/2 a pb sandwich.
Good Luck! Can't wait for the race report.
Have your big meal for lunch the day before, and a relatively light dinner. It gives your body time to process things so you don't have too much in there on race morning and end up feeling sluggish. Race morning, I typically have gluten free waffles with almond butter and maple syrup.
Good luck in the race!
I don't eat much the night before. I eat a biggish late lunch the day before (big burger with lots of fries or Pizza). The morning of – yogurt (Brown Cow) or bagel with peanut butter on it. Two nights before I will do carb load meal – big stuffed baked potato or pasta.
Post race – weird – every race, HM or Full, I crave a nice steak typically by mile 10.
You will kick it!!!
You should eat like you've been training. What did you have the night before and morning of your longest run?Go with that
For me, its usually pizza the day before. And a wheat bagel with pb the morning of. 🙂
have fun!
I ate a portion of pasta, my staple dinner before every long run, the night before. Race morning I again had my staple, peanut butter toast with a banana. Everything went easy peasy since I stuck with what I had trained with. GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!! You are going to do great!!!!
So excited for you! I usually eat a pasta dinner the night before the marathon. Just regular marinara and spaghetti noodles. As for breakfast, I am usually a bar girl. And typically it's a South Beach protein bar. Good luck Sunday! You got this in the bag!
I am running my first marathon in OKC on Sunday, I am excited too. We are doing pasta tomorrow night. A friend, who just ran Boston, said that you should drink one glass of red wine the night before. It will relax you and help you sleep, she said she has one every time.
Good Luck!
I just found from your blog from Tall Mom and I think you might be close to me (judging by your races). Wow, now I feel like a stalker 🙂
Good luck in your marathon! I think I had pizza the night before and then PB&J; on a plain bagel before I ran.
I'm still figuring out race morning food, but I know that bringing my Shot Bloks is key!
Hope you had a great run!!! I just realized we both ran the GW race however I am sure you were well well well ahead of me 🙂
how did it go??!!! dying over here!!
WELL?!?!?!?!
